TOUR DE RUTHERGLEN 2010
2nd & 3rd OCTOBER
RIDE THE RAIL TO GOLD
A full 150 years after the original gold rush in 1860 rejoin the rush once more!
ln this year's Tour de Rutherglen we will be enjoying a leisurely ride along the newly formed
Rutherglen Wahgunyah RailTrail, discovering some of Rutherglen's finest liquid gold.
Greetings from Rutherglen
Warmer days and sunshine are just around the corner and so is the
2010 Tour de Rutherglen.
What could be nicer than a casual cycle along quiet country lanes
visiting and sampling the wares of some of Rutherglen’s iconic
wineries. Brush off your old bike that has been gathering dust over
winter and join us at this year’s Tour de Rutherglen, scheduled for Oct
2 – 3.
This year’s theme is 'ride the rail to gold”
A celebration of the 150th anniversary of gold discovery in Rutherglen
and the opening of the Rutherglen rail trail. To help us celebrate, our
participating wineries will be featuring all things gold; award winning
wines and golden drops. You will also be treated to a little piece of
Rutherglen history, exploring our rich golden past. And what makes
the Tour is the ‘special’ treatment you receive at each of the wineries
you visit: special tastings with the Winemaker, behind the scenes
experiences and special offers only available to riders.
The ride is fully supported, let your support crew do all the worrying ...
just turn up and enjoy the day. There will be a sag wagon to pick up
your wine purchases and yourself if you’re feeling a bit tired. If your
tyre is flat or some running repairs are required our support crew will
be there for you, tools in hand. For those wanting to stretch their legs
there will be a longer ride option with the potential for a quick trip
interstate!
Of course, there will be the sumptuous breakfasts, scrumptious
gourmet picnic lunches, the Saturday evening Winemaker's Dinner
and Sunday Roll. Please click on the links, below, for all the
information you need and to register on-line. We look forward to
seeing you in Rutherglen soon and just remember...... lycra is
optional!!
Kind Regards
Doug, Peter, Robert
