BUSINESS PERSONS DINNER Alana Johnson was the Victorian Business Women of the Year in 2010 and was the runner up for the Australian Business Woman of the Year. She has an extensive resume of activities undertaken as a consultant and as someone keen to make a difference. Ms Johnson will be speaking on Wednesday November 16th at the Rutherglen Rotary Club's Annual Business Person's Dinner on the topic of Community Leadership – Local to Global. This will be held at Tuilleries restaurant. She joins a notable list of luminaries who have spoken at the annual dinner which is always well-attended. People who watch the ABC will remember her as one of the panellists on Q & A when it went to air in May earlier this year, broadcast from Albury it was the first time it had been moved out of Sydney. Ms Johnson is recognised nationally and internationally for her Leadership training and work on Change Management. She has conducted programs in the USA, Ireland and the UK and is currently working with rural women in India. She has recently returned to home after making a presentation  at an international climate change conference in Italy. A Social Worker and clinical Family Therapist, Alana is a lecturer and PhD candidate at Monash University and has been awarded an Australian Post Graduate Scholarship for her research. Ms Johnson is a strong believer of developing a philanthropic Foundation for Agriculture to enable people to put something back into agriculture. Alana Johnson said “when you look at it we have philanthropic foundations for the arts, health, sport and education”. “Why not for agriculture” “she adds “people could create a legacy to rural Australia by investing their wealth back into agriculture”. Alana is also a fifth generation farmer. For the past 30 years she has been involved in cattle production, farm forestry and landscape renovation with her husband and two sons on their property near Benalla in Victoria.
